That's exactly the approach I've been trying to take, and I think it's the right one. Participating in comments on various blogs, pointing people to cool resources, and sharing your thoughts openly is definitely the way to go. Of course it would be great to make a living from my blog, but I'm not prepared to sell my soul just to do it.
